Wicked :: This Witch (That Bitch)

"Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets and then teams up with three complete strangers to kill again."

--Marin County newspaper's TV listing for "The Wizard of Oz"

Oh holy fuck, I've turned 30. How the hell did that happen?

I live in Atlanta. Yes, again. I work at a PR firm these days named Brandware, which specializes in the automotive sector. This is good, because I like cars. A lot.

In my spare time, I try and curb my additicton to surfing the 'net, play racquetball, take in as much live theater as I can get through comp tickets at 7Stages, cook semi-fancy dinners for friends, assemble furniture from IKEA, and pretend to be semi-literate. I even do things that benefit humanity, including serving on no less than three volunteer marketing committees. If you wonder how I find the time, well, the answer is simple: the committees don't meet all that often.

I've kept a personal website (web site?) since 1993, and I've gone through many design iterations and themes. This current one is (still) based off of Gregory Maguire's book, Wicked, the story of the Wizard of Oz retold from the point of view of the Witch. I strongly recommend Wicked, the book, though I suggest skipping the muscial, since, like all musicals, it sucks ass. Note that I haven't seen the musical, mind you--I just know that it's a musical, and musicals are, by their very nature, inherently evil. The reason I haven't redesigned the site in so damn long is because I personally think it still looks good after all these years. If you don't agree, then I think you're aesthetically challenged.

I'm atrocious about updating, and don't even begin to ask me what's the difference between the blog and the journal, because I sure don't know. Sometimes, I update both. Usually I update neither. My excuse is that I believe in quality over quantity. That, and I'm a jaded and bitter fuck, and could care less about my reader. That reader, by the way, would be you.

I can be reached for comment, consideration or offers of sex, money, or holy matrimony (or all three) at bgluckman (at) wickedweb.org.

With love,
Brian
